Top 10 Burlesque, Exotic Dancers from 19th Century

March 15, 2012  |  Bizarre

Take a minute and brace yourselves, you are about to take a photographic trip back to the 19th century and see how the sexy world of exotic (burlesque) dancers looked more than a decade ago. While it is true our human nature hasn’t changed – we are still war mongering hairless apes that would do anything for sex. Oh, wait, that’s men. Okay, men haven’t changed much, but it is hard to believe these un-scantily dressed women in the photographs were enough to bring in the men-folk to see the show.

This is just a small part of the collection of the exotic dancers from the nineteenth (19th) century you can find here. These are called tobacco cards and are from the McCaghy Collection and show what the early burlesque looked like. Exotic, erotic, beauties? Maybe not by today’s standards, but they probably put on a pretty good show that the strip clubs of today would get a chuckle by watching.
