Hobbes is a transitional object, i.e. an object that has both a subjective reality (that is not contested by those around him) and a common objective reality.  Children Calvin&#039;s age often have transitional objects such as blankets, stuffed animals, imaginary friends, etc.  This assists the child in navigating the transition between their experience of living in a largely subjective and poorly differentiated world and an objective, independent world.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[If calvin has schizophrenia then according to one of the comic strip where calvin&#039;s mom talks to hobbes, calvin&#039;s mom should also be suffering from schizophrenia. But there are instances where hobbes is seen to be real. One such place is when hobbes attacks calvin and calvin has marks on him. I never found the actual reason to what happened.

I would say that calvin does not suffer from schizophrenia but he suffers from alter ego. Which is the tendency to create different identities and believing to be that particular identity. Example:- calvin pretending to be captain spiff.

Calvin and hobbes is based on a kid who is six years old and shows the qualities of a six year old. Such as imaginary friends, a crush on the neighbour&#039;s daughter, fights between the friends and so on. I am sure that minimum 10% of this world who were kids had and did these sort of stuff. But that doesn&#039;t necessarily mean that they suffered from schizophrenia]]></description>
