Top 10 Live Moving Cinemagraph Pictures
The magic of moving pictures and the Internet have combined to make a wonderful art form that isn’t truly new but then again it is a bit askew from what we have seen in the past. Technically these pictures and images are animated gifs but..um, classier animated gifs. The name for these new and improved, artistic animated gifs is cinemagraphs. Cinemagraphs are still photographs that have a, usually, subtle movement occur on an unending loop. The idea is to give you the impression that you are watching a movie, although extremely short and with a kind of boring story line.
The beauty of these “live pictures” is in the specific nature of the part of the picture that is animated, such as just a leg swaying, a hair blowing, a light flickering and so on, which contrasts delightfully with the quiet stillness of the picture or photo itself.
The term “cinemagraph” was created by Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck, photographers who used the technique to in their fashion photography early in 2011.
